Chrystal Thornton is the Program Manager for the Our Children Are Sacred Suicide Prevention Program at Ben Calf Robe Society and was instrumental in its development. She has the last 22 years of her career supporting trauma survivors in various capacities including, but not limited to: supportive and therapeutic counselling, crisis intervention, program development, psychoeducational support groups, and crisis response.


She served on the Board of Directors for Sexual Assault Services of Saskatchewan, is a recipient of the Premier’s Award for Excellence in the Public Service (Saskatchewan 2017), has supervised Social Work Practicum Students (University of Regina), and is a facilitator for various iterations of Mental Health First Aid as well as Critical Incident Stress Debriefing. As a trauma survivor Chrystal is passionate about supporting initiatives that target vulnerable and marginalized populations that provide tangible tools to support wellness and healthy communities.
