Brett Spring Chief

Youth Addiction Councilor

My name is Brettlee Spring Chief from the Siksika nation. I was raised by my parents Trent & Elaine. I have 4 brothers, 1 sister and a beautiful niece plus a nephew on the way!

I'm currently a Youth Addiction Councilor for a organization called "YSAC" I have been with the team for 2 years now, its been quite an amazing experience. Being the oldest child also being one of the oldest cousins I realized quickly I was a role model. Growing up on the reservation where there's definitely challenges such as substance abuse, violence, lack of after school programs etc. I seen the demand for positive examples, people who were willing to be the change we always talk about. Seeing my family, friends and nation go through such difficulties because of addiction I wanted to try and make a change and help. Teaching the young people healthy living in their Mind, Body, spirit and emotion with the help of such a great team has been a blessing! nothing is easy, but consistency is key.

I'm also a hiphop artist! I have a great team by my side as well, my brothers Tony Spring Chief and Rocky Crow Chief (Young Swift). The 3 of us have been making music together since last year. We've had the opportunity to perform along side other inspiring indigenous artists such as T-rhyme & Antoine Edwards jr. We also have shows Coming up this summer of 2019. Hiphop is definitely a passion for us, its always been an outlet for us, its where we can share our deepest thoughts and feelings. The type of music we write about is our personal experiences. The Good, bad and the Ugly, everything from Anxiety to Broken hearts we write about it. Its definitely healing for us. You can find our music on SoundCloud & Youtube!
